The Story
Original Owner: Franklyn C. Shattuck
Franklyn C. Shattuck, the original owner of the house, was born on January 3, 1839 in Colraine, Massachusetts. He came west in 1863 and engaged in the sale of dry goods store supplies. In 1872, he became one of four co-founders of the Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Neenah's most successful paper company, and helped with funding and investments. He died at age 76 on December 18th, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. He is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah.

Biography of Other Prominent Owners:
Daniel Brown
Daniel K. Brown, the second owner of the house, was born on January 21, 1886 in Preston, Lancashire England. He came to Neenah in 1905 and worked as a carpenter. He then started his career with Kimberly-Clark. When Neenah Paper separated from KC in 1912, Brown switched to work for Neenah Paper. He worked his way up and in 1940 became the president of Neenah Paper. In 1955, Brown retired from Neenah Paper as CEO. Daniel Brown's first wife Nellie passed away in 1957; and he later married Margaret. He died on July 25, 1974 in Neenah, Wisconsin and Margaret sold the house in 1976.
Dr. Timothy (Joan) Flaherty
Dr. Timothy and Joan Flaherty are the third family to have lived here and have lived in the house for over 40 years. While they have lived here, they remodeled the kitchen, enlarged the garage, changed the heating/cooling system (which originally had been steam heating), added wallpaper, and antiqued all of the woodwork.
